How tango.moda handles your personal data
Last updated: October 13, 2026
1. Who we are (data controller)
tango.moda is run by Dimitris Bronowski (“The Curious Tanguero”), based in Portugal. He is the controller of the personal data processed through this website. Contact: tango@thecurioustanguero.com.
2. What data we collect
- Server and security logs. When you visit, our hosting provider (Bluehost / Newfold Digital) automatically records technical data such as your IP address, browser type, the pages requested and the time of the request.
- Website statistics. We use Jetpack Stats (by Automattic) to count visits and see which pages are popular. It processes data such as your IP address, browser, referring page and the pages you view, and gives us aggregated statistics.
- Cookies and similar technologies. See our Cookie Policy.
- Emails you send us. If you write to us (for example to suggest a store, report a mistake or ask about a featured placement), we receive your email address, name and whatever you include in the message.
We do not run user accounts, comments, a shop or contact forms on tango.moda, and we do not ask you for payment details.
3. Why we use it and our legal basis (GDPR Art. 6)
| Purpose | Legal basis |
|---|---|
| Delivering the website securely and preventing abuse (server logs) | Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)) |
| Understanding how the site is used so we can improve it (statistics) | Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)); where cookies or similar identifiers that are not strictly necessary are used, your consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) |
| Answering your emails and handling featured-placement requests | Legitimate interest, or steps prior to entering into an agreement (Art. 6(1)(b)) where you ask about a placement |
| Complying with legal obligations (e.g. accounting for paid placements) | Legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)) |
4. Links to third-party stores
tango.moda is a directory. Store cards link to independent third-party websites. When you click a link, you leave tango.moda and the store’s own privacy and cookie policies apply. We are not responsible for the content, data practices or products of those websites. We do not receive personal data from stores about your visits or purchases.
5. Service providers and transfers
We use service providers that process data on our behalf: our web host (Bluehost / Newfold Digital), Automattic (Jetpack Stats and Jetpack’s image delivery service) and Google (web fonts loaded from fonts.googleapis.com). Some of these providers may process data outside the European Economic Area, for example in the United States. Where this happens, transfers rely on safeguards recognised under the GDPR, such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or Standard Contractual Clauses.
6. How long we keep data
- Server logs: for the period set by our hosting provider, normally no longer than needed for security and troubleshooting.
- Statistics: kept in aggregated form; raw statistics data is kept according to Automattic’s retention practices.
- Emails: as long as needed to handle your request and any follow-up, and then deleted unless we must keep them for legal reasons (e.g. invoices for paid placements).
7. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you;
- have inaccurate data corrected (rectification);
- have your data erased;
- restrict processing;
- object to processing based on our legitimate interests;
- data portability;
- withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent, without affecting earlier processing.
To exercise these rights, email tango@thecurioustanguero.com. We will reply within one month.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Portuguese data protection authority, the Comissão Nacional de Proteção de Dados (CNPD), www.cnpd.pt, or with the authority in your own EU country.
8. Children
This website is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
9. Changes
We may update this policy. The “last updated” date at the top shows the latest version.
Analytics and advertising
We use Google Analytics (statistics) to understand how visitors use this site, and the Meta Pixel (marketing) to measure and improve our Facebook and Instagram campaigns. Both load only after you give consent through our cookie banner, and you can change your choice at any time.
